Centier Bank cheers employees for ‘State Championship’

After Centier Bank earned the top spot in the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s Best Places to Work list, the company celebrated the award with all 700 of its employees.

The bank’s president and executives decorated a school bus with banners congratulating the company’s “State Championship” and surprised employees as they stopped at each of its 44 branches with foam fingers and a bullhorn. An ice cream truck also gave out treats to employees.

The chamber said that the company’s commitment to its employees, sense of family and annual incentive and recognition programs helped set it apart.

As part of the celebration, the company will also give its employees an “extended holiday” this October for Columbus Day.

“This team effort was made possible by each and every Centier associate, and I wanted a way to surprise them and personally thank them for this achievement,” said president and CEO Michael Schrage.

The company has also earned recognition for its employee wellness program. The Times of Northwest Indiana says the company’s corporate headquarters features a free fitness center open to all employees and a cafeteria that offers healthy menu choices.
