HP enhances incentives to increase SMB market share

Hewlett-Packard has launched what ChannelWeb calls an “all-out offensive” partner program to increase its share of the SMB market. The initiative, which will include expansion of the company’s SMB Elite Program, was presented at HP’s Americas Partner Conference this week.

The SMB Elite Expansion is designed to encourage partners to sell the HP line to SMB accounts. New enhancements to the program allow partners to qualify for significant HP incentives at lower levels of annual revenue, HP Solution Partners Organization Americas vice president of strategy and SMB Meaghan Kelly told ChannelWeb.

Benefits of SMB Elite status include dedicated account resources and access to demo products. Kelly said the incentive program offers an incentive for small businesses to distinguish themselves.

HP made big news this week by announcing its acquisition of Palm in a deal valued at more than $1 billion. HP says Palm’s webOS platform will enhance its participation in the smartphone and mobile device markets. The transaction finalizing the deal is expected to be completed by the end of HP’s third fiscal quarter.
