Oracle to introduce channel incentive program this year
The wait is nearly over for many resellers who are anticipating a new channel incentive program from Oracle.
ChannelWeb reports that the resellers have been waiting for details of a new incentive for Sun vendors since Oracle bought the computer firm back in January. While speaking at a conference this week, Oracle officials said while the final details are still being ironed out, the company will launch the program before the end of the year.
"We place tremendous value on partners," said Tom Wagner, Oracle’s group vice president of North America hardware alliances and channels, according to the source.
Wagner also said that the company would look for partners to specialize in a specific area, because its product lineup has grown so large it would be impractical to require partners to be experts in all aspects of the company.
A lack of communication about Oracle’s plans for Sun has been a recurring topic over the last few months. MarketWatch reports that many companies have expressed frustration about the merger, saying that Oracle hasn’t given them enough information to allow them to plan for future IT purchases.
