Software developer Eucalyptus launches new channel partner program

Private cloud software developer Eucalyptus Systems has launched a new channel incentive program that it says will give its technology partners more options and better revenue opportunities.

The new program has three partner levels – Platinum, Gold and Silver. Partners at the top two levels have access to one of the program’s newest features – the Eucalyptus Partner Cloud. The cloud – a cluster of high powered servers – allows the company’s channel partners to develop and test their new applications for the software in a low-risk environment.

"On the Eucalyptus Partner Cloud, our partners can develop and test-drive their Eucalyptus solutions on a state-of-the-art computing cloud. The interest in these partnering opportunities has beaten all our expectations," said Marten Mickos, Eucalyptus CEO.

The private cloud industry allows companies to internally consolidate their servers and other information technology resources – reducing the need to purchase more storage space while also cutting down on energy and cooling costs.

Eucalyptus is working to capitalize on a quickly growing marketplace. A recent Gartner report found that cloud-related products and services would bring in more than $68 billion this year, and nearly $150 billion by 2010.
