Acer enhances channel partner program

Computer technology and electronics corporation Acer recently announced an expansion to its United States-based Acer Channel Excellence Program.

"These ACE program enhancements further reinforce our commitment to an exclusively indirect sales model, and give our channel partners even more ways to succeed while delivering superior customer solutions," said Gregg Prendergast, vice president of commercial sales and marketing at Acer America. "We have expanded the ACE program to serve a larger number of qualified authorized resellers, extended it to VARs selling our server and storage products, and also added improved discounts, enhancements to our on-line ACE information portal, and new promotional opportunities for our partners."

As part of the enhancements, the program's benefits to channel partners were extended – including those selling the company's new family of server and storage products. The company also added new features to help the approximately 300 qualified value-added resellers who reach annual sales goals to increase revenue opportunities and sales support.

VARs also receive front-end preferred pricing, including a 5 percent instant rebate on Acer's new server and storage products, and a 2 percent instant rebate on desktops, notebooks, projectors, accessories, tablets and extended warranties. In order to increase VAR profitability, demo system and evaluation unit discounts were increased, and channel incentives were introduced, including quarterly offers for key strategic products.

Additionally, improvements were made to the channel program portal allowing VARs to access a wider and more varied selection of sales support tools, technical white papers and documentation, price books and free custom collateral.

ACE partners will also be highlighted on the company's website.

Acer, which launched its Ace Program two years ago, continues to be the only top-five PC manufacturer supplier to be fully committed to the reseller channel, with no competing direct sales force.

All authorized program resellers will continue to receive increased engagement with Acer field personnel and product marketing organization, as well as priority inside sales support via their own direct 800 number with PIN, which places them at the head of the call queue.

Acer recently became the latest victim in a series of high-profile hackings that victimized Epsilon, Citigroup and Sony, among others. Earlier this month, its European Packard Bell server was breached, releasing customers' names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and system serial codes, according to a company statement.
