IBM improves advantages to channel partners, introduces points system
IBM has announced a series of new channel investments to help its business partners deliver solutions and create growth opportunities. The benefits include expanded social media tools, senior-level relationship services and market intelligence resources.
"We continue to invest in our Business Partners through skills development, streamlined processes and new opportunities to collaborate as we work together to create solutions for our clients," said Rich Hume, general manager of IBM’s global business partners and mid-market division.
As part of the company’s channel investments, IBM has simplified the requirements for advancement through its PartnerWorld incentive program. A new weighted points system has been introduced. This system will allow partners to earn points for certification and skills attainment, as well as leveraging IBM hardware, software or services.
The PartnerWorld program’s new criteria offer partners more options for advancement and are designed to create a simplified path toward increased specialties and benefits. Changes will begin in July.
The system currently in place is difficult to advance through, ChannelWeb reports. According to the website, more than 90 percent of IBM’s channel partners fall into the Member category, 5 percent have earned the Advanced rank and a mere 3 percent have reached Premier status.
