Tulsa casino adopts wellness program that offers incentives to employees
River Spirit Casino, located in Tulsa’s Muscogee Creek Nation in Oklahoma, announced the implementation of a new corporate health and wellness program aimed at curbing workplace obesity and promoting healthy lifestyles for the casino’s employees and family members.
incentaHEALTH will be providing the employee wellness program that combines technology and scientific expertise to reduce obesity in the workplace while also cutting healthcare costs incurred by the employer. The program is also available to employee family members and includes an incentive program if certain weight loss and lifestyle change goals are met.
“As most national studies indicate, the state of Oklahoma is near the bottom of most health indicator lists-including obesity and consumption of a healthy diet-and we, with the support of incentaHEALTH, are committed to changing that,” said Eric Moon, health and wellness coach and corporate programming consultant for The Holmes Organisation.
River Spirit Casino is a gaming, entertainment and dining center that also provides a positive impact on the economy as well as the community of Tulsa as it offers a portion of gaming proceeds to help fund various Muscogee Nation service programs including housing, education and elderly assistance. It is also a tourist attraction and employer of roughly 1,300 workers.
“Many of the employers in Oklahoma that we work with are looking for innovative wellness programs that get measurable results-and incentaHEALTH is one such program,” Moon said.
The incentaHEALTH employee health and wellness program incorporates a system that encourages maintaining healthy weight over the course of a lifetime. It accomplishes this by utilizing the internet and email to provide a fitness guide and useful coaching for participants, with incentives awarded every quarter for those employees that can maintain that healthy lifestyle.
“Our technology-focused approach gives employees access to a large network of health care practitioners, fitness professionals, dieticians and more-all right at their fingertips-with the added bonus of keeping costs down,” said Todd McGuire, co-founder and chief technology officer of incentaHEALTH.
According to its website, the main benefits corporations like River Spirit Casino can gain from implementing a corporate wellness program similar to the one incetaHEALTH offers include: lower healthcare costs, lower prescription drug costs, employee incentives, increased productivity, increased morale, reduced absenteeism and an all-around healthier and more positive work atmosphere.
